About the Liberty House
Our Story
The history of Liberty House dates all the way back to 1845. When we purchased the farm 4 years ago, the original log house was still standing & still lived in. We knew we wanted to preserve as much history as we could, so when we took the house down, we saved all the hand hewn logs, rafters, foundation stones & anything else we could salvage. The Liberty House was built with these old materials. We moved the location of the house up the hill, and started the rebuilding process. During the process of rebuilding, we found two logs that had dates carved into them. One was 1845 & the other was 1851. We are positive the 1851 log came out of the house. The 1845 log may have been from an outbuilding or barn, but still a part of the history of the farm. These logs are prominently showcased in the Liberty House!

The name of the Liberty House at Freedom Acres comes from its location. We are nestled right in between Freedom Acres and South Liberty Road. Also, we are determined to preserve history, and the terms “Liberty & Freedom” are symbolic to our country’s history & heritage. We think the name is a perfect fit for our log house!
